Do you know your country?
Did you know that only 34.8% of the pupils who started school in 2002 in South Africa completed secondary education (Grade 12 / matric) in 2013, while 5.8% of the adult population had received no education at all? (Stats South Africa Household Survey 2012). South Africans are faced with a major problem of escalating levels of unemployment (26.7% in the first quarter of 2016). Leaving over 5 million people unemployed, this high unemployment clearly contributes to the tensions that this wonderful country still faces on a daily basis.
Research shows that over 60% of households in Atteridgeville, an informal settlement in Pretoria are living on less than R1600 per month often sustaining a family of five. (Less than a US$1.00 per person per day).
When you are stuck in a hopeless situation of poverty and unemployment, it is not easy to keep believing in a better future. It is GetOn Skills Development continuous mission to influence and contribute to poverty alleviation in the community. We do this for those people who have the passion and motivation to better their economic situation.
